SUPPORT
Izabela’s story has affected everyone around her. At just 24, and recent mother of a little baby boy, she has been diagnosed with cancer. It started as a tumor on the lumbar spine and then later moved to the lungs. The rare cancer disease is called a Giant cell tumor. It acts very unusual and is difficult to treat. After two failed surgeries on the spine, chemotheraphy and radioactive treatment, the doctors are running out of ideas. But there is a small hope! A few Danish patients, with the same kind of cancer, has gone to China for a special treatment – and they have returned cured from cancer. Instead of the chemotherapy and radioactive treatments the Chinese use genetic treatment (gene therapy) and freezing of the tumor in the lungs (cryotheraphy). It is this treatment that might save Izabela. The health system does not support this special treatment and taking matters into one’s own hands – even though the results should speak for themselves. Izabela and her family does not have the money to send her to China, so in order to give her this chance to save her life, she needs economic support!
